Quick Win #16

Connecting Pentatonic Scales - Major to Lydian Dominant (over a different root tone)

Here's a quick summary of the main takeaways from this Quick Win!

  • we can move the last two notes in the Pentatonic Major scale down by one half-step, and we've just moved to the Lydian Dominant Pentatonic over a new root that is located 2 above the original one
  • we can also raise the first three notes of the Pentatonic Major scale by one half-step, and we get to the Lydian Pentatonic scale over a new root that is 3 above the original root tone

Advice

With little chromatic transitions, we can modulate to other tonal centers effortlessly and very elegantly!
